Will Desk Phones get Replaced by Mobile Phones?

Desk phones have always been an important piece of equipment used within many workplaces. However, due to new technology continuously entering the market, could it be possible that desk phones will eventually fade out?

When employees work away from work, the main method of contacting the workplace will be through their mobile phone. The amount of usage a desk phone has will solely depend on the amount of time an employee spends at their desk compared to working from home or working at another company site. If this is the case then the need for a desk phone will decline.

Samsung have revealed a Wireless Enterprise setup which allows businesses to use their mobile phone to install wireless LAN rather than using a desk phone. Samsung created this idea as they feel mobile devices are now controlling the workplace. However, VoIP technology is beginning to replace the more traditional phone lines due to the added features it now includes.

More and more businesses are leaning towards the idea of using telephone providers such as IP Cortex as they are allowing users the access to more applications which is more cost effective for the business overall.

What would you prefer, using your mobile or a desk phone when at work?

Many people said that they would prefer to use their desk phone for work related calls rather than using their personal smartphone. Although mobile phones are now the most common method of communication, using a desk phone is more convenient as you do not have to face the risk of losing it. Most importantly, if an employee is of an older generation and has always used a desk phone then there will be no attraction to switching to a smartphone.
