5 tech resolutions for the New Year
With the New Year approaching, why not focus on improving your businesses security measures?
- Regular security software updates are important within businesses as disregarding software updates could mean any PC or laptop will be easily accessible to malware or Trojans which could cause harm to your system.
- Backups – yes I know this is generally not at the top of your to-do list but it is important! The only time you think about backing your data up is when your device stops working and you then realise you have lost your work from the last few months, but at this point it’s too late.
- Passwords are a major security threat to many businesses. Do you use the same password for the majority of your online accounts? This is the main trap that employees fall into as they think it is easier to use the same password across many sites. You should use a variation of letters, numbers and even symbols to make it harder to crack.
- You can never be certain whether a Wi-Fi connection is secure or not. To prevent your data from being hacked you should use the secure browsing extension, turn off sharing and make sure your device does not automatically connect to open Wi-Fi hotspots
- Keep your devices clutter free! Do you leave unused files on your desktop to build up? If yes, you should aim to keep your desktop relatively tidy by removing duplicated information and sort files into folders as leaving unused files to build up on your desktop will cause your PC to run at a slower rate.
