Is There a Gap in the Market for Another Smartwatch?
The Pebble Watch was the first Smartwatch available on the market which connects to iPhone and Android smartphones through the use of Bluetooth. Since this hit the market, Apple, Samsung, Google and Microsoft have all been working hard to create their own Smartwatches. The watches which are in the designing process are simply just an extension of a smartphone, but have been adapted to allow the consumer to wear it on their wrist.
This device will be connected to your Smartphone and the general idea is to allow the user to check their emails on it, see incoming phone calls and text messages, as well as constantly see the time, and fitness use etc. Using this device for incoming calls and texts makes it easier for the user as they do not have to constantly reach for their phone but they can simply see what they need all from their wrist.
Will this device become a bigger breakthrough than the latest smartphones?
Imagine sitting in a meeting and you receive a text on your smartwatch, by having email or text notifications come up it may become distracting for everyone else in the meeting and may also look very unprofessional. So is a smartwatch a good idea when at work?
Although there are many benefits to this device, Apple are aiming to allow their smartwatch to make mobile payments, have a navigation tool, access messages and monitor the users’ health activity. These functions will make simple activities a lot easier for the user as they will not need a separate device to run all these functions on.
