Is your phone storage space full? Heres what you should do
You may have wanted to do the iOS 7 upgrade but found you do not have enough free space on your iPhone for another 3.1GB worth of upgrade. This will result in making a few decisions on what you should remove from your device.
Since having your phone I assume you have built up a large amount of apps, photos, music downloads and videos that you do not want to get rid of, but you have no choice if you want this upgrade to take place. If you look at what is taking up most of your storage space then you can delete or uninstall certain items without having to wipe your whole phone.
To start with, on your iPhone, go to Settings > General > Usage. You will then see the amount of storage you have available and the apps that are using up the most space. Android phones will have a similar menu found in either ‘Settings’ or the ‘My Device’ app.
Photos and Video are the most common files which take up space on mobile devices. Video files are quite large, some use up roughly 78MB for every minute of recording, so general advice would be to save the video to your PC or laptop, delete it from your phone and watch your storage space increase.
Do you take random, pointless photos when you are out? Do you really need the hundreds of photos you take of yourself before you go out? The amount of photos you have on your device takes up a large space of storage on your phone and like I said before, save them to your PC, delete it from your phone and once again, watch your storage space increase dramatically.
Music takes up to 3MBs of space on your device. Using music-streaming apps such as Spotify will use up less space than storing the music on your phone.
Apps do not actually play a significant part in using up the storage space on your phone, surprisingly! Most apps do not actually take up much space on your device, but if you download every app possible, and only use a handful of them then uninstalling the apps you least use can also benefit your storage space.
Lastly, I would suggest clearing your cache as the longer you are on your phone, the more information it will store on it.
Once you have done these steps, you should then have enough free space to upgrade your software, and be up-to-date on all the changes made to your phone.
